We’ve all heard of a dad bod right, but have any of us ever embraced the idea of there being such thing as a mom bod. I do, I have a mom bod, and I’m proud of it. There’s always been that common phrase, “bounce back” I can’t even remember how many times I’ve heard it or had people say it to me, “don’t worry you’ll bounce back.”

But it’s definitely not as easy as they make it sound.

Your whole entire body changes through a pregnancy, you can go from being a size 0 to a size 5/7 just like that, and yes you may lose some weight right after birth but definitely not all of it. It also depends on the delivery process, by having a c-section it has made the weight loss process more of a challenge for me. I lost 20lbs right after birth, but during my entire pregnancy I gained a total of 60, so I still have 40lbs to go. It may not sound like a lot, but it is to me.

I used to be this tiny petite young woman, who only weighed 97lbs, now I weigh 140lbs and I’ve started to embrace it, I used to think I was too skinny and I hated it. I always wanted to gain some weight and put more meat on these bones but no matter what I tried my metabolism wouldn’t let me. Then I created a human being inside me and my body grew to nurture the both of us. I finally feel healthy, the only thing I hate now is my belly fat.

I’ve learned to give it more time, I can’t strengthen my core and lose the baby belly right away that is just not how it works. In order to bounce back you have to put in the work, change your diet, and exercise! Make it a habit and a routine and stick with it. I’ve never been one to believe in weight loss pills and all those other alternatives out there, because it’s not natural. If you want to lose weight then you need to be motivated and ready, otherwise it will not work.

But with that being said it’s okay to take your time! Don’t rush it or burn yourself out. Instead love yourself for who you are and tell yourself everyday that YOU want this, and YOU can do this! You’ll succeed if you really push yourself, only you can change your life, no one can do it for you!
